Last night was for wings and vodka so this morning was for sleeping late then drinking lots of water. Which meant, unfortunately, that Keely and I were not out of the house until after 7 a.m. and the temperature was already cresting 80°F along with the sun rise.
We headed south over to third street, cutting through to walk around Manor @ Midtown , which is apparently the official name of the plaza I used to call Finnegan’s Wake Plaza but can’t anymore because the bar has closed for good (the sign is still there, as is most furniture inside; I do hope someone buys it up as-is and just reopens it). Apparently a victim of the pandemic, along with its sister restaurant, Fifth and Thomas. Around the corner, both Fire Betty’s and Fox and Stag have shut down permanently as well. I’m not sure about Taco Republik, there are no signs on the door and I never walk by there later in the day to see if it is open or not. They all were pretty stable businesses in the Before, so I guess they all go down as victims of the pandemic.
I did take time to stop and capture another mural that is a bit hidden back from the road, there in the Manor @ Midtown parking lot:
It’s a sweet mural that went up a couple years ago, I think? Entirely unsure why it’s inviting people to visit when the mural itself is absolutely not something any potential tourist will ever see, given that many residents probably don’t know it exists.
“Why ask why?” seems to be the motto for most Tallahassee murals, I think.
