The most interesting thing I noticed this morning is that there is now a “no trespassing” sign on the front door of the Chandler house, barely visible due to the overhang of the little porch there. I imagine it is there to keep homeless people from camping out to avoid rain and sun. Not really sure why they care, since it is not a store with customers coming and going…it might be someday but as of now it’s still pretty much a mystery as to what is moving in there.
We were out pretty early, in futile hopes of avoiding the thick heat. But even an hour before dawn is not enough to escape it. Admittedly afternoons are worse; I had to go to my dermatologist for a regular anti-cancer check up and waiting at the bus stops in 100°F heat-index temps was a misery. It’s not even August yet; the next three months will be brutal.
Keely definitely is shortening her walks even when I don’t plan to, which is good. I would rather she follow her instincts on that than blindly follow me and overheat. It’s hard to believe she’s probably 12-14 years old now, and not as resilient as even when I got her in 2016. *cries*
Meanwhile Lk. Ella remains mostly the same, with the same early morning regulars and the same shuffling of homeless people around.
The new crossfit studio at the corner of 7th and Monroe is hopping, though — no one wearing masks, of course, because Florida.
