dawn at Lake Ella

9/26/2020 – Saturday

Keely got to lead because it’s a Saturday, but she was very conservative this week, unlike last week where she led me around in strange directions. We got out right at 6 am and took the cut throughs to 3rd, then up Duval around to the Publix plaza. A pleasant hour long walk.

Since it is nearly October the sun did not even break until after 7 am which is fine with us. Not that it was cool. It was not. But neither was it oppressively damp and warm like yesterday, so I’ll take what I can get.

We got more storms yesterday afternoon, and the leaves and cars and other stationary objects are all still glistening with water 12+ hours later, which is what happens when the humidity is 90%. This is why I never hang wet laundry outside — it gets mold long before it gets dry.

One interesting thing I saw as I walked was this tree, which borders two parking lots and sits next to a light pole. One side of the pole has bright white halogen bulbs, while the other side has yellow incandescent bulbs, and it gives this tree a very split personality:

In fact as I walked up on it I thought at first that half the tree was dying, yellowed and sickly brown. No. Just lighting. I didn’t even adjust color on the photo!

I also noted that most places have taken down their “masks required!” signs, as apparently the pandemic is not a thing and never happened and is just a conspiracy theory, according to Republicans, despite over 14k dead in this state alone.

I guess it’s just time to wait and see.
