dawn at Lake Ella

Whoa I am back!

Let me preface by saying that my Annual Autumnal Chest Cold of Crud is always a rollicking good time, and never more so than during a pandemic!

It came on last Wednesday, I think — I spent the last part of the week in a bit of a fugue state, but given everything with *waves hand around* I assumed it might have something to do with depression or anxiety, both of which are old familiar bedfellows (alas). But no! It was an even older familiar bedfellow, the chest/coughing seasonal cold I have had every year like clockwork since we moved to this hell hole in 1983.

When I was younger, it always turned to bronchitis, but as I grew accustomed to this annual tradition I figured out that the only way to beat it was to take to my bed as quickly as possible for as long as possible and dose up on Nyquil every six hours. By Friday night I realized what was happening and did just that…my weekend was a blur, and I even called out from work yesterday and today.

Working from home means calling out from work just gives me leave to crash out in bed most of the day (which, no, I do NOT do when I am actually “on the clock”, believe it or not!). I’m feeling much better but will likely do a couple more dosings of Nyquil just to be sure. Catching it early means I only miss a couple of days of work and not a couple of weeks. I am an old hand at this by now.

And no, it’s not covid19, but I was scared it might be so I kept a close watch for fever, aching joints, and loss of taste/smell. Fortunately (?!?!??) it was just the usual.

Of course dog walking waits for no illness, so I still managed to stumble out of the house to get Keely outdoors. One such trip took us through the Golden Corral parking lot and you can tell it has re-opened, I guess? 😀

Fortunately our furry friend just stood there and hissed at Keely, who was very much not into it and pranced away as quickly as possible. Always keep a tight hold on your leash, folks, you never know when nature will hiss at your dog!
