dawn at Lake Ella

10/20/2020 – Tuesday

Neither Keely nor I were very motivated this morning — I barely woke up with my sunlight alarm, just laid there watching the room get brighter while my brain did not, and Keely remained steadfastly in her dog bed until I rousted her at 6 am!

Which means we did not get out until well after 6 am! At this time of year that doesn’t make much difference as it was still dark and would remain so. That, of course, is something I enjoy! We also enjoyed the weather, which lately has been holding steady at about 70°F most mornings. Not cool but also not sweltering hot either so I’ll take what I can get.

This was interesting, though: mushrooms!

Those are just one pile of ‘shrooms out of a whole bunch of piles that popped up in the yard of Memory Lane Antiques — that’s the two story antique store between Henry’s Radiator Shop and Lake Ella Park — and, strangely, no where else. They are just there all over the yard but stop dead at the edge of the park, and even weirder, this is the first time I have ever seen them do this in all the years I have walked by that yard. And I did not see them anywhere else, at all!

Such strange things, as any mycologist will tell you!

Speaking of Henry’s Radiator Shop, it is still closed. I’m not sure when the sign out front changed from “Closed for shoulder surgery” (which went up back in March during lock down) to “Closed Temporarily” but the new sign has been there long enough to fade from bright orange to almost-white.

As with a lot of “temporary” things in 2020, I suspect it might be permanent.
