dawn at Lake Ella

10/22/2020 – Thursday

I woke up grumpy, so the walk this morning was mostly about me calming myself and letting Keely do her thing. She was behaving, as she almost always does, so it was all down to me being impatient and, yes, grumpy. My mascot:

So that’s me, today. I think will likely be me through the election cycle and possibly the rest of all time.

But! It was also pleasant out, right at 70°F with some light breezes moving the humidity around. The regulars were out, as were the ducks. The water table keeps getting lower — we had a flash of rain yesterday but nothing significant. Every day I wake up to a weather report telling me a lot of rain is coming later in the week but when later in the week arrives, the rain does not. Gonna be a dry winter, I guess. Normally I’m happy to see the end of the hurricane season but hurricanes were the only way we got any rain. Double edge sword and all of that.

The E. Redbuds are losing leaves, which could be winter, too much sun, or too little water. Who knows? I don’t! But I’ll see what they look like tonight, maybe water them again. Where they are planted has too-good drainage so I’m not concerned about over watering them, not when we’re lacking rain to make up the difference.

The good news (yes, there is good news!) is that my COVID-19 test came back negative! So that’s three tests, one in June, one in early September, and one yesterday, and all negative. Let’s hope this luck continues to hold!
