dawn at Lake Ella

11/15/2020 – Sunday

Today was was a cooler morning but humid enough to still feel like summer weather. I don’t know when we will ever get a real winter back (if ever?) but I miss it. Thankfully temps will drop a little bit more, later in the week.

Keely and I were not very lively so I took us around the pond as usual, instead of wandering off for a longer walk as we did yesterday. It is really hard to tell these days if my lethargy is stress related, food/exercise related, or simply the cumulative feed back loop of 2020. All of the above?

There is a certain level of helplessness that feeds into these thoughts, which I know is coming from the rising COVID numbers. More and more people I know are either testing positive or have family members who test positive — something that was bound to happen eventually, but not like this. Not like this.

Still, we get up and go for our morning walk, varying the routine in small ways but not substantially, and get on with living our lives as best we can. There are catastrophists out there screaming about the end of the world but this does not feel like end times to me…perhaps I’ve read too much about history to see anything new in the calls for apocalypse. There are always survivors, after all.

But it certainly does feel like riding a dinghy across a massive sea, destination unknown.

Still, small things can make us smile, such as this sign I saw at Music Masters store on Monroe:

It’s the kind of humor we need in times like this…well, to be fair, we need all the good humor we can get!
