dawn at Lake Ella

2/15/2021 – Monday

Update on Keely:

As I write this, I’m waiting for the vet’s office to call me back. The tech I talked to (hello, Katherine!) did not seem too worried about Keely not drinking water, given that she’s eating and peeing and pooping as usual. Is she more tired then normal? Hard for me to tell, she’s a lazy dog! ahahaha!

Our morning walk was damp — rain still moving through — and a bit chilly but not cold. Keely was very intent to smell everything, as is her right! So we meandered along in the pre-dawn mists around Lake Ella.

There is another regular, who has been showing up often enough this winter to become a regular: an older gentleman who wears a bright yellow safety vest and moves with the slow plodding gate of someone who is in pain, or used to be in pain. He doesn’t show every day, but he’s there pretty often.

A lot of the other regulars, I’m noticing, seem to show up cyclically. Power Walking Lady appears daily for about a month? Or a few weeks? Then disappears again for an extended time. Becky shows when the weather is better, but sometimes disappears for weeks at a time. Last time was due to injury so I always worry when she’s gone.

Since the pandemic lockdown started and I began working from home, I have not seen Good Morning Guy because he leaves by the time I get out the door. I miss his cheerful care and well wishes, but not enough to get up an hour earlier!

Time for more coffee to ward off the worrying about Keely…
