This morning’s walk was not as early as I planned, but the trade off was catching a bit of sunrise over the trees:
Shots like these make me wish I could paint!
Keely is now two weeks out from her surgery, and as recovered as she is gonna get. Her snack this morning was one of her beloved chewy treats, and she was so excited when I pulled it out of the storage container that she ran actual trufax circles in the kitchen.
Sort of. It’s a linoleum floor so there was less “running” and more “slip sliding into the cabinets” but the enthusiasm was there!
I exchanged emails with a friend yesterday concerning my worries that this blog is boring — what is the theme? The focus? The purpose?
She rightly pointed out that I was overthinking it. Keely’s Way started as nothing more than a practice of daily writing exercise. The original goal was to write for 10 minutes about anything that crossed my mind while walking Keely in the morning.
And, for the most part, that is exactly what it has been! I have taken to using photographs more often as a way to liven it up as well as challenge my photography skills, but at heart this remains a daily writing exercise for the sole purpose of writing.
I do want to make it interesting, but not as a consumable. I want it to be interesting for me, to write and engage with as both a way to stretch creative chops and as a commitment to consistency (I have been more consistent than not with posts over the past year, but not unflagging…a goal to work toward!)
So I can’t promise that this won’t ever be boring, or repetitive. It’s just me and Keely going about the daily costs of living. 🙂
