dawn at Lake Ella

3/14/2021

It was a lazy start to Sunday, which is welcome. Yesterday started off discombobulated — I had forgotten a meeting I scheduled with a friend, as I did not put it on my calendar, so had to apologize profusely and reschedule. Eventually wound up in a late brunch with another friend who was full of frenetic energy due to last minute changes in her schedule. Ended the day in a group watch of a c-drama with people I know only from twitter, and they are all great people as far as I can tell but it’s always a bit weird for me to interact with so many unfamiliar personalities.

All of which is to say that I’m glad for a quiet morning.

After our walk, which was punctuated with a lot of ducks yelling a lot, I feed Keely then took her with me to Lucky Goat where she got to watch me eat this spread:

I don’t normally eat breakfast like this, but it’s Sunday, and I don’t care.

Stopped to talk with a neighbor, one who has lived here about 10 years. We’ve both had rough-shod lives in different ways, and we laughed about how we took the long way around to adulthood and responsibility. One thing I really love is that he assumes I work in “the kitchens” at FSU — I’ve never corrected him, because honestly I might as well work in the kitchens. We’re just nameless cogs selling our labor to large organizations, after all. People who think those of us who hold “professional jobs” are any different than the woman who preps the food in your take out carton is sadly delusional.
