dawn at Lake Ella

3/22/2021 – Monday Reboot

Here we are! My first Keely’s Way post written directly from my own personal blog website. For those who don’t follow me on social media, you might have missed the epic amount of teeth gnashing and wailing that went into this transition. There was…a lot.

I have had this website for about 20 years, give or take. It’s changed a lot of course but most significantly when I shifted to using the Divi theme/framework (back in, hmmm, 2016?) or so, which is when it got the facelift you see now. However when I made that shift I did it on the fly and half-assed it so that doing something theoretically simple like importing blog posts from substack actually took nearly two full days of me re-engineering the backend and then setting up mailchimp for email subscribers (hello, I hope you are reading this just fine). In other words, I did this to myself then complained a lot about it.

Anyway! Onwards with the blogging about Keely and I walking around! I took this photo over the weekend at Lake Ella. It is just the one sign, laminated and stapled (!!!!) to the tree, mimicking a Yelp review by a duck who is rating the defecation features of the park. I don’t know who went through all this trouble but I admire their dedication to the joke!photo of fake yelp review by a duck

I’m back to walking early, which I prefer, but it’s especially dark at 5 a.m. now due to daylight savings time kicking last week (which you should remember as I complained about it A LOT). However, the bonus is that the park is mostly empty. This is a bonus because I have started voice training and I am super bad at it. I am using an app very pragmatically named “Learn to Sing” which can listen to me and rate my efforts. If this were a class I’d be getting a failing grade, which is painful for a former type-A only-A’s student such as myself. However, with trying to podcast more often I need to strengthen my voice, and this seems like a good way to do it. I’ve always wanted to be a decent singer, if only for holiday carols!
