This morning was a late start due to Mother Nature, who decided to rain all morning, much to Keely’s displeasure. I did manage to get her out for a pee break last night before bed, but just barely, and as soon as the sky started spitting on her poor delicate constitution she turned around and made for home.
Even after we made it out (at 9:30 am! A late record?) we got caught in the rain again, although at least only on the tail end (heh) of the walk. Keely was off grid again, going down 6th Ave. to Cherry St. then over the La Fayette park. She does not, actually, enjoy walking through the park and will avoid it if I let her, but she has a weird fascination with the parking lot of the community center there. Dogs, amirite????
Unfortunately, the fact that we were forced to wait means that there was enough light through the clouds for me to attempt to be artistic, never a good sign tbh, and take this photo. I spent entirely too much time fussing around with it in GIMP pretending I have a “vision” but anyway, here:
Why, you ask? Our society runs on garbage. You don’t really live in a place until you know where to throw your garbage, after all, and while we all pretend they are invisible most apartment complexes have these ugly, efficient, dirty waste bins sitting around somewhere. There is something so very real to me about the “back end” of places such as apartment complexes and businesses. This is where the life is, where the living happens. Every single person in that complex throws their trash in those bins. We are communal in our waste. I’m not trying to sound profound or philosophical, it’s just a fact, albeit one we share the conceit of not exisiting.
