dawn at Lake Ella

6/22/2021 – Tuesday

Today’s walk was more of a short jaunt due to this:

weather radar

That’s deceptive, though. While it was drizzling rain at the time, that’s all it did since the major band stayed just north of us as it tracked north-east. It’s now a couple of hours later and the heavy weather is finally hitting us. There are flood watches in effect, but I don’t drive and I don’t need to leave the house and (bonus!) my place is on an actual hill. The result is a nice, rainy, dreary day. I love it.

Keely, as I’ve mentioned before, is not much of a cuddler nor even a fan of proximity, generally. However I always know when the weather is a bit fierce as she maintains a strict “stay within 2 ft. radius” policy. I don’t think she’s scared of storms as much as simply discombobulated. In fact the only time she ever wanted to be a lap dog was when the severe hurricane Michael was passing nearby!

I’ll have to take Keely out again once we get a real break in the rain, since she was barely outside long enough to pee before pulling me back to the house. I guess that’s the weather report for the day, though!

I did finally break and ask my friend Kim to drive me to the drug store last night so I could buy flonase and benadryl. Yesterday I had a headache ALL DAY and I’m just sick of it. Hopefully a step up in the routine will keep me from living in pain while summer rolls through. Used to be I only ever had severe sinus issues in April and May but now it’s half the year. Climate change sucks.
