I was in denial about it being a work day so we were not out the door until 6:30 am — summer is well in hand as dawn was nearly over, the sun occassionally breaking through the thick morning clouds over the tall pines. I miss winter so much!
It was a dreary morning with clouds moving in and out, and nothing caught my eye, so instead have a photo from the weekend when the sun shining bright for a few moments! I know it looks uninteresting but bear with me…
That is an old strip mall on Monroe St. that barely deserves that description. The tattoo shop on the far left with a “for lease” sign is the sixth, maybe seventh(?) shop that’s tried to make a go in that location. The pizza place on the far right is a Tallahassee institution that I boycotted a long time ago after an extremely rude altercation with the owner yelling at me, and the taekwondo studio has also been there for a while. The most interesting shop is the “rental” store next to the pizza place, which over the course of many years I have never seen anyone enter, or leave. It is definitely open, for values of being unlocked and having a sign that says “open” but…I’m pretty convinced it is some kind of money laundering going on, or something. It is very bizzare.
Anyway, I dream about this building because if I had the money I would buy it, renovate it top to bottom, and move into the second story space which is either a big apartment or a couple of smaller ones. It’s such a great location and I think with some loving investment could be a very cute, even upscale collection of stores. I would even be magnanimous and not kick out the pizza place. ahahaha!
