I was asked recently if I’m okay, and the answer is: no. I’m not.
I managed to struggle-bus through lockdown and “re-opening” but as we get ready to start the fall term at FSU I think everything is finally hitting me like a rockslide. Yes, I’m starting up therapy again. That, however, does not change the utter cluster-fuck of fascism, climate change, and late-stage capitalism that drains my weary soul. *sigh*
In fitting news, this sign appeared at Henry’s Radiator this morning:

So, that’s the end of an era. I’ve never known that business to actually be a business, in the sense of having customers and working on radiators. Seems like it was more of a hobby for the owner to just hang out at the shop randomly, which as a retirement plan is not terrible! I do not know if the owner died or just decided it was time to fold it up, but it puts the property into question. I have no doubt that a developer or two is already slavering at the mouth to rip down this historic, iconic garage and, I dunno, build a starbucks. Wouldn’t surprise me.
Going to be a busy week and also a sad one as our boss’s last week…I doubt we’ll even see much of her as she packs up her office and hands over the reins.
So much uncertainty. :/
