dawn at Lake Ella

1/30/2022 – Sunday lessons

I woke up discombobulated this morning because I spent most of yesterday on a fools errand. In short, I spent 7+ hours trying to “fix” a twelve minute video instead of just re-recording it. I was frustrated and stubborn and wasted my own time.

There is certainly a time and place for stubbornness in life, but that was not it. Good stubbornness is invigorating; this was demoralizing. By the time I was halfway into that multi-hour stretch (although I did not realize it was the halfway mark, of course) I should have just put it aside and worked on other things. It was a cycle of decreasing returns until 7 pm when I finally realized I was being ridiculous.

So, this morning, bright and early, I got out the teleprompter script and cleaned up my face and rerecorded the video, and it turned out great. Of course.

Already feeling better about myself!

Also took another hour long walk this morning, despite the cold. I was in multiple layers of clothes plus jacket plus gloves etc. as it was a bitter 25°F when we headed out at little before 7 am. Keely loved it, and I stayed mostly warm so it wasn’t too bad. She’s now conked out in her doggy bed, snoring, like the wonderful little beast she is!

I also remembered to take a photo of the new restaurant going in at the old Fox & Stag. Yes, I totally put a “vintage” filter on it since it seemed to fit the vibe!

I have not checked out their IG but I will. Always glad to support local businesses even if their signs are bit mysterious.
