dawn at Lake Ella

3/18/2022 – Thursday

It was another very foggy morning, so instead of boring you with another photo of “a study in gray” I managed to get a photo of this distrustful mama duck and her very newly-born brood:

mama duck does not trust you

We got out a little after 7:30 am — seems Miss Keely is still lagging from the time change, and getting her up before 7:00 am is a futile effort. By the time we made it to the park, the later-morning walkers were out in force. I do not like sharing the sidewalk that much so I’m definitely going to push to get Keely out earlier!

Today I am starting work a little early, at 9:00 am, since I am joining a couple of friends for a long-overdue lunch gathering. One of them, the host, is an excellent cook so I wanna be on time! 😁

Yesterday I did get a few things done but it was a slow day, a melancholy day overall. Which I suppose shouldn’t be surprised at, looking at the date; back in 1996, this was the start of one of the most traumatic months of my life. I am continually surprised by how much my body remembers which my conscious brain does not, which is in itself surprising because I go through this lull every damn year. I’ll be fine, and there will be good days to balance the sad days, and I’ll keep going.

In other news, my doctor’s office called and told me the blood work I had done back in January came back fairly good.  “Bad” cholesterol is still just marginally high, the same as it’s been for the past 20+ years every time I get bloodwork done, and blood sugar markers are slightly elevated. I was told to lower my sugar intake, which I think is a great example of how little doctors in general understand metabolism but nonetheless believe 100% that they do, because I don’t consume sugary things but a few times a week, at most, nor do I use artificial sweeteners. I’ll drink soda about once a month, alcohol maybe twice a week and then only in moderation. I don’t even drink fruit juice, and I only consume fruit occasionally. Compare my over-all sugar intake to the national average and I basically don’t eat it at all. But you know, I’m fat, so obviously I need to reduce my sugar intake. *rolls eyes*
