dawn at Lake Ella

4/1/2022 – Friday, no foolin’!

Ahhhh, here it is, Friday! …which for me is like every other day of the week nowadays!

Will all the rain moved on, this morning was a lovely walk around Lake Ella. We got out at 7:00 am, which seems to be the time we’ve settled on as “not too early, not too late”, at least for now. As summer creeps up and days get too long and too hot, we may have to shift that. Keely got to the hot-dog stage of panting during yesterday’s mid-morning walk, and it was only 80°F. She’s becoming a fragile elderly old girl, so I need to keep an eye out for her health and comfort. ;_;

As for the rest of spring, the amaryllis have sprung:

amaryllis in full bloom

I will say this, for all they only bloom once a year, they are hardy plants. This particular group have survived multiple murder attempts by assorted incompetent landscape maintenance crews over the years, but even when mowed over (yes that happened) they bounce back.

In other news, I have ordered a new Surface Pro laptop (new to me, anyway — a refurbished Surface Pro 7, but it’s a secondary machine so it just needs to support my writing habit!). It’s a hit financially, but honestly I knew it was coming sometime soon. My old circa-2015 Surface Pro 4 is running okay except for when it overheats and goes to hell in a handbasket. Not much can be done, it’s a known problem with the model and Microsoft’s advice on repairing it is “buy a newer model.” So, I did. At least I can write it off as a business expense? *sigh*
