Saturday is my “day off”, the day of the week I have assigned as “do whatever I want day!”
That, however, does not get me out of Keely’s morning walk, fear not!
We took the long route up Thomasville to 3rd, where I was pleasantly surprised to see that Venebites has expanded! The side with the orange/yellow paint used to be…well, empty, but before that was a rotating series of unsuccessful hair salons. Not anymore!
It’s really cute and the photo captures the colors but not how homey and inviting the place is. If you have not stopped by to try out their food, I highly suggest you do! They opened up right before the pandemic lockdown of 2020 and I worried a lot that they would not survive, but they are doing great!
Monroe and side streets were shut down for a…parade? I was very confused until I remembered Springtime Tallahassee, an annual event that brings in spring here in the city, which as far as I know has not happened since 2019…no, it was put on in 2021, but was not the big parade + downtown fair, it was just held at the fairgrounds for people willing to go socialize in the middle of a deadly pandemic. Which, given that this is Florida, was a good sized crowd.
Keely and I cut over past the floats, which all look very mysterious and weird when they are not fully unfurled, and headed up Duval to the Publix plaza. I mean, I did try to cut over to Lake Ella, but Keely was not having it and made it clear she wanted the full Golden Corral Detour. All in all it was well over an hour, which means I was ready for a nap by the time we got home!
