dawn at Lake Ella

5/7/2022 – Saturday

Yesterday was spent mostly working on editing and trying to finish my next MMF fantasy book, The Queen’s Aerie, which is clocking in at around 90k words. But by 5:00 pm I was done, so my friend KimM picked me up and whisked me away to her basement-slash-den-of-inequity (yes, we do occasionally have basements in Florida, at least when your house is situated on a hill!!!). It’s usually a bit tidier than this, but she’s putting in carpets upstairs so everything is higgledy-piggledy. Anyway, I loved this image from where I was sitting on the couch, very atmospheric!

It was nice to just kick back and relax for a bit. It was a productive, busy week but also stressful (mostly, dealing with Keely’s health issues, which are worisome and expensive).

Now it is Saturday, and I’m back at working on finishing the book. It’s killed my word counts for the week but alas, that’s part of the ebb and flow of writing: some days are for writing, and some days are for editing.

Keely was on the trail of the fox again, I think, despite the heavy rain yesterday. She was most insistent to go in different directions and wander over hill and dale at Lake Ella, despite her extreme dislike of setting paws on wet, dank grass.
