I just realized, typing this, that today is Friday the 13th! It’s admittedly a grim memorial, and I understand why it is associated with bad luck (RIP, Knights Templar!) but long before I knew about its history I, like many 80s goth kids, adopted it as a “Spooky Holiday” in line with Halloween. So happy Friday the 13th, y’all! 🖤
This morning it was a bit warmer at 67°F but still pleasant enough for a longer walk. I took us over to Los Robles subdivision, which confused Keely for a moment, but she adapted well. It ended up being close to an hour-long walk (mostly because Keely was stopping us a lot to sniff things out) and I got a lot of dictation done along the way.
Today’s photo is not from this morning, but yesterday afternoon. This is from the parking lot right near Lucky Goat coffee, along the fence that borders the old fire station property (I think it’s a church now? Four Oaks Church? Or offices for the church? Dunno). More flowers:
There is a lot of politics going on right now, and it’s impacting everyone I know. I don’t have the bandwidth to discuss it right now, but I do feel like that I should remind everyone that the arc of history is towards justice and kindness…it just might take a while, and there will be a lot of darkness along the way. We just gotta keep fighting for a better world, one where people are accepted and loved for who they are, and children don’t ever know fear or starvation.
