Recovering this morning from a late dinner at Little Paris, where the food was excellent and the wine flowed freely! Alas, the reason wasn’t so great — my friend KimM had suffered a house burglary which lost her some precious jewelry pieces of sentimental value (as well as her amazing rhinestone/costume jewelry collection!) on the same day her nephew’s school had a shoot-out in the school auditorium (nephew was not there at the time, but still unnerving; no students were hurt so that’s the good news). So, great dinner! Terrible day!
My day was not quite as bad. I am focusing most of my energies on the edits for my MMF fantasy book The Queen’s Aerie, which is due to be sent to my editor in a couple of days. Eeeeek! It’s clocking in at just over 90k words, so yeah, head-down-work-hard has been my focus for the past five days.
The bad news is that dawn is breaking earlier and earlier, so I think I will have to shift our walks earlier as well to avoid the sun/humidity/heat triple threat of Florida summers. In the meantime, the light is great for photographs!
The photo is looking to the north from the sidewalk nearest Monroe Street. You can see one of the cottages, which is actually Joe’s Bike Shop, there in the middle.
