dawn at Lake Ella

10/9/2022 – Sunday

What an absolutely gorgeous morning for a walk! Keely herded me out the door with purpose after I slept in until 7:00 am. Fortunately we’re well out of summer so sleeping in doesn’t mean walking through hell. It was about 55°F and while humidity was still 89% or so, it was refreshing and cool. Doors open again this morning to air out the house…although Keely only people-watched for a while before flopping down in her dog bed next to my desk.

In other news, I’m doing a lot of packing now. No, I’m not moving! …yet. I will eventually move, I honestly feel that the time is near. I’ve lived in this sweet, cruddy apartment for over 15 years, making it the place I’ve lived the longest over the course of my whole life!!! Yet, as I explained to a friend recently, it was never meant to be “home” and has never felt like that way. A good, safe haven for a lot of extreme changes in my life (moving to Tally, divorce, grad school, jobs, whooping cough, menopause, pandemic, etc.), yes, but a home? No. In fact my closets are filled with boxes I never unpacked after moving in.

Now, I’m packing up more boxes/totes. My goal is to get rid of the horrible, deteriorating book shelves in the front room, so the books there are what is being packed up first. Ideally, I can score a storage unit to slowly fill up so that when I DO move (goal: early/mid 2023!) I won’t be overwhelmed with packing.

Pro tip: using the ToteScan app, so I can label all the totes/boxes with QR codes and then itemize their contents. 😁

To make up for this boring update, here is a photo of Keely waiting for a treat:
