dawn at Lake Ella

10/13/2022 – Thursday

Another muggy morning, but clear-skied for a while. We finally got a substantial downpour last night, but nowhere near enough. Hurricane Ian sucked up a lot of weather so we have not had a rainstorm in these parts since several days before Ian became an issue. It was too far south to give us any rain, so things have been very dry around here. Unfortunately the rain last night also brought humidity, so when we got out around 7:30 am everything was still wet. Very wet. Keely was not pleased.

Instead of dipping down to Lake Ella, I kept us in the “a little bit drier” zone and headed over to Los Robles suburb down the way. I talk a lot about the commons there and this is a nice show of the sun rising over the middle of the park:

In other news, I have confirmed that Vino Beano is using the old Shell Station/Farm Stores shack at 7th and Thomasville for storage, as last night I walked past an employee of the bar coming out of the shack carrying two bottles of flavored syrup for coffee drinks. I guess it’s a convenient storage space? Have no idea if they are renting it or own it but I suspect the latter. I could probably go look it up in public records but eh, the mystery is half the fun!

There is work being done on the old Sōdough location at 6th and Thomasville, but the old sign is still up. Looks like the front area is being gutted, but not the kitchen? So maybe another food joint moving in?
