10/20/2022 – Thursday, time for a flu shot!

Today’s big chore was to get to Publix by 9:30 am for my flu shot. Since I’m uninsured, it cost me $57.00, which I can afford but I think is actually horrific. How many people who WILL catch the flu are avoiding this vaccine because of money!?!?!? How damaging is it to public health overall to hold vaccines like this hostage to the almighty dollar???

It’s not news to say that the USA healthcare system is fucked up, but I continue to be surprised and dismayed by it every day.

In better news, there were little butterfly flags planted around the walkways of the Women’s Club in Los Robles. Here is Keely being very unimpressed:

I thought they were very cute and sweet, and so much better than releasing real butterflies (I am assuming that this was for a wedding that was held there). I’m always curious about the way different weddings decorate, or rather, what decorations cling to the spot as a faded ghost of the celebration. (These were eventually removed, as all decorations are).
